- The Term “New Era” has more than one meaning. Some use it to mean the period starting around 1200, “when the lights came on again”, but this time is more correctly known as the Recovery Period. The New Era properly refers to the new age of interstellar civilisation that came after the Recovery. Many historians outside the Fourth Imperium use a dating system in which the year 1200 (Old Imperial calendar) corresponds to the year New Era 1. This system began in the Reformation Coalition and is not commonly used in the Imperium or its Outworld Domains.
